Cam Akers, RB, Florida State
Post Combine
Cam Akers creates so many yards for himself you just see that playmaking ability he has. Great athleticism, contact balance, and shiftiness in the open field.
— Nick Farabaugh (@FarabaughFB) April 11, 2020
Akers has his downsides for sure. But he’s got a 3-down skillset with pass pro and receiving ability too. Day 2 guy.
Let's stay with running backs today - Cam Akers and Zack Moss. Akers was one of those backs the more I watched the more I liked his tape. I believe he can be a factor in the passing game as he develops as an NFL back. pic.twitter.com/khfqfiSz4l

Just how bad was Cam Akers offensive line at FSU?
— Graham Barfield (@GrahamBarfield) April 8, 2020
* 0.57 yards blocked per attempt is worst in yards created history (since 2016)
* 0.37 YBA/A on inside carries is second-worst since 2016
* Akers was contacted at or behind the line of scrimmage on 30% of rushes (most in class)

Clyde Edwards-Helaire is a RB prospect in the 2020 draft class out of Louisiana State.
— Kent Lee Platte (@MathBomb) February 29, 2020
He posted a good #RAS with poor size, okay speed, elite explosiveness, at the RB position.https://t.co/CrW5btO9FZ pic.twitter.com/ATDFlWcJ85
#FloridaState RB Cam Akers: 20 reps on the bench press
— Jordan Reid (@JReidNFL) February 27, 2020
- can get tunnel vision & be surprised by pursuit defenders
— J Moyer (@JMoyerFB) February 28, 2020
- catches the ball naturally
- packs a wallop in pass pro, but has some whiffs (due to occasional poor technique with eyes/head down)
- FSU ran lot of gap/wide zone plays to hide vision/footwork deficiencies

Before it’s all said and done, it wouldn’t surprise if it’s a consensus that #FSU RB Cam Akers enters the top-tier of this loaded RB class

You love to see it. Cam Akers on a bad team with a bad OL out here competing his ass off in pass pro. Interested to see if he's still doing this in November games. pic.twitter.com/ahDiWdlY8H

Cam Akers got a HOSE! Do RB passes count like WR passes, @Marcus_Mosher? pic.twitter.com/dUMPecStzI

I’ll continue the trend here.

• Players I’m higher on than most: QB Jordan Love, RB Cam Akers, WR Justin Jefferson, TE Harrison Bryant, CB Cam Dantzler, and C Cesar Ruiz
• Lower: OT Austin Jackson and CB Paulson Adebo https://t.co/8xduQ4HjNQ
I’m a big fan of Cam Akers. Reminds me a bit of a faster Mark Ingram. Low to the ground runner, who’s excellent with fending off contact, and he’s a reliable pass catcher. https://t.co/83FCsB42pT

8/ What can we learn from this?
— JWack (@JaredWackerlyFF) January 15, 2020
The results are what I figured. Cam Akers and Ke'Shawn Vaughn both had very tough matchups throughout the 2019 season. Being able to produce in those situations should say more than guys who produced in better situations. Context matters.
