Gritty Mock Draft

Ryan Rutherford

Round 1

  1. Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray

The best QB in the draft. New head coaches always want their own guy. Don't be surprised to see the Cardinals trade Josh Rosen for another first rounder if Kyler Murray is taken.

  2. San Francisco 49ers: Nick Bosa

Probably the best player in the draft. Lowest risk pick

  3. New York Jets: Quinnen Williams

Will immediately be a force in the NFL thanks to Alabama's conditioning. Less of ceiling than Bosa, but a higher floor.

  4. Oakland Raiders: Josh Allen

Jon Gruden will try to replace what he lost when he traded away Khalil Mack.

  5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Devin White

A new QB for the defense under Bruce Arians and new DC Todd Bowles.

  6. New York Giants: Dwayne Haskins

The G men get their QB of the future. Redskins fans will be pissed when this happens but oh well. The Giants will have their new core of Saquon and Haskins but expect Haskins to sit under Eli for a year.

  7. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jawaan Taylor

Jaguars appear to be setting themselves up for one of the QBs in next years draft so taking a great O-linemen would help set the future franchise QB up for success.

  8. Detroit Lions: TJ Hockenson

Patricia watched Gronk for too long not to want a big, pass catching tight end of his own.

  9. Buffalo Bills: Ed Oliver

Buffalo needs a piece in the middle of that line after the retirement of legendary Buffalo Bill Kyle Williams.

  10. Denver Broncos: Jonah Williams

Broncos will help protect their newly acquired QB and prepare for when they inevitably draft a big QB in a year or two that is awful, but he wont get his as much from the side Jonah Williams is on.

  11. Cincinnati Bengals: Devin Bush

The Michigan stud will be perfect in the new NFL that requires LBs in pass coverage thanks to his speed. Wouldn't be surprised to see Cincy reach on Drew Lock or Daniel Jones here.

  12. Green Bay Packers: Christian Wilkins

The most talented of the many talented players from the Clemson D-line.

  13. Miami Dolphins: Cody Ford

Dolphins also appear to be waiting till next year for a QB. "Thick all over, and in the right places" a real quote from Shaun O'Hara at the combine.

  14. Atlanta Falcons: Brian Burns

Probably less talented than Montez Sweat but a lot of teams will be put off by his heart condition.

  15. Washington Redskins: Montez Sweat

The Redskins have ignored red flags other teams have taken to heart before and will do it again given the chance. In recent history, the Redskins have taken the best player available regardless of need. If Sweat is still there, he would definitely be the highest graded player available.

  16. Carolina Panthers: Rashawn Gary

Julius Peppers finally retired and the Panthers had their lowest sack total since 2011.

  17. New York Giants: DK Metcalf

The Giants try to make mends with their fans and give their new QB a big target. A trio of Haskins, Saquon, and Metcalf would be terrifying for NFC East defenses for years to come.

  18. Minnesota Vikings: Andre Dillard

Boring, safe pick for a boring team. Im sure Kirk will like that.

  19. Tennessee Titans: Noah Fant

Will waste his career in Tennesse. Sad.

  20. Pittsburgh Steelers: Byron Murphy

    Steelers secondary needs help fast.

  21. Seattle Seahawks: Chauncey Gardener Johnson

A new great safety to continue the legacy left by Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas.

  22. Baltimore Ravens: Garrett Bradbury

    Protect Lamar at all costs

  23. Houston Texans: Greedy Williams

Stud to be paired with their growing secondary.

  24. Oakland Raiders: Marquis Brown

In memory of Al Davis, they take a WR in the 1st.

  25. Philadelphia Eagles: Dexter Lawrence

Run D is important in the NFC East

  26. Indianapolis Colts: Jefferey Simmons

Colts are focused on their Defense and letting Luck do his thing.

  27. Oakland Raiders: Miles Sanders

Finally a running back. They need to replace Marshawn Lynch after his recent retirement.

  28. Los Angeles Chargers: Amani Oruwariye

They need DB help to go with Bosa's force up front.

  29. Seattle Seahawks: Chase Winovich

The last of the great Edge rushers to go in the first round. Second one from Michigan

  30. Green Bay Packers: Hakeem Butler

Some more help for Rodgers and could affect Davante Adams fantasy numbers

  31. Los Angeles Rams: Chris Lindstrom

When you are already good, having another good linemen is always a smart move.

  32. New England Patriots: Will Grier

They will flip him for picks down the road like they always do.
