Jay Ajayi has failed to live up to the hype I placed on him this season. Ajayi was the centerpiece of a talentless offense with an extremely underperforming offensive line. Defenses just stacked the box every play, clogging up all lanes for Ajayi. Ajayi was traded right before the deadline to the NFL leading Eagles who possess one of the leagues top offensive lines. Ajayi is trending up, but unforutnatly has been a dissapointment this season fantasy-wise.
Ruling: Fail
Freeman has been an above average fantasy back this season, but the Falcons offense as a whole has taken a large step back. Freeman needs to find the endzone with more regularity to make this prediction come true. With an easier RoS approaching, look for Freeman to continue to improve.
Ruling: Pass
This was entirely a judgement call. Following an extremely soft rookie campaign with barely any redzone looks, Gordon exploded last season to finish as a top 3 fantasy back. I predicted a regression to the mean for Gordon, but that prediction has been wrong. Gordon has maintained his foothold as one of the leagues most talented rbs.
Ruling: Fail
Cooper has been one of the biggest busts of this fantasy season, except for week 8 where he exploded for 200 yards and 2 tds. Cooper: Actually bad.
Ruling: Fail
No other way around this one. Thomas is dealing with a major sophmore slump after a huge regression of targets and success vs dbs. Thomas is one of the most talented young recievers in the league, but it has not translated into fantasy success this season.
Ruling: Fail
My most egregious miss. Hunt has showed true RB1 skills and performance, making him in hindsight a tremendous value in the 3rd round.
Ruling: Fail
I could have given myself more of a chance by saying that Murray will just suck, which would have been true. However, even through injury, Murray has maintained his starting position.
Ruling: Fail
After Kelce had a coming out party 2 years ago, he regressed last season with a more volumous role instead of a scoring role. Gronk on the other hand missed almost every game that year. Projecting these great TEs was difficult, but Kelce has turned out to be a top 3 TE again this season.
Ruling: Draw
I was nervous about this projection as the season went on, but Carson Wentz' favorite target has me feeling pretty good. Jeffrey is trending up and has caught a td in 2 of his last 3 games.
Ruling: Maybe Pass?
Oh yeah. I nailed this one. Even with McCaffrey and Fournette being higher picks, I loved the fit of Cook on Minnesota. It is a shame that a knee injury derailed his entire season as we could have been looking at the next superstar RB.
Ruling: Pass
If you're sensing a trend against the Chiefs, then you are correct! I had assumed that a couple quick losses on their tough opening schedule would force a qb change which would disrupt the dynamic of the Chiefs offense. However, Alex Smith has turned the narrative around by getting the Chiefs off to the AFC's best record and only throwing 1 int so far all season. Smith has the offense humming including their main skill players such as Hill.
Ruling: Fail
Everything was set up for Eifert to have a successful fantasy season. He was finally *healthy* and part of an offense that had made some improvements to divert the defenses attention away from him. Just as water is wet, though, Eifert is injured, and has cost himself the entire season in a contract year.
Ruling: Fail
A 3 way committee of runningbacks on a pass first team thats sure to be playing from behind? Sounds like a recipe for disaster. In actuality, though, AD was traded away from this stable of backs, and Ingram and rookie Alvin Kamara have both seen massive and consistent fantasy success on a run-first offense with one of the leagues best defenses behind them. oh.
Ruling: Fail
